The Peoples Health Champions Program honored Dolores Jeandron during the New Orleans Saints game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, for completing her first 10K race last year at age 85. Jeandron was honored for doing extraordinary things after age 65—including earning more than 60 medals competing in the Senior Olympic Games—proving that excellence is achieved through experience.
On Nov. 12, 2016, Jeandron ran more than six miles in her first 10K race without any official training. The experience she gained from a lifetime of exercise and sports, along with a competitive spirit, powered her past the finish line in a race that included runners a quarter of her age.
Jeandron says she’s proud to be 85 years old and is “happy to have the body and the strength to get up and go,” thanks to a regular schedule of exercise, dancing and other activities.
